Vicrina A. is a NYC-based Visual Designer that focuses on beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands that target a female audience.
How We Met
This story is a simple one. I met Vicrina Aberdeen through my friend, interlocutor, and collaborator Monique Rebel Jones through a project on which they were working. Vicrina is an NYC based visual designer that focuses on beauty, fashion, and lifestyle brands targeting female audiences.
The Backstory
Vicrina hired Rebel Jones and her creative direction and consultation company, Triple R Productions, to produce and publish the second season of Vicrina’s online web series, Vicrina-en-Vogue. On this show, Vicrina traverses the lifestyle and fashion scenes of local vendors and creatives with eclectic styles reflecting emerging fashion trends. The first season premiered three episodes; Season two aimed to double that. Rebel Jones recruited Upbound Media to handle technical execution for the project.
What We Did
Upbound Media and Triple R Productions combined efforts to produce the second season of Vicrina-en-Vogue. Triple R Productions and another associate already filmed half of the second season’s new introduction sequence, and shot one episode. Upbound Solutions came onboard to complete of the intro sequence, the production of a season 2 teaser trailer, and to shoot and produce five more episodes. We premiered the season on November 11th 2018.

“We make sustainability sexy”
“WE MAKE SUSTAINABILITY SEXY” is the mantra of eLo Vegan Lifestyle (formerly eLo Lip Care). At the time of our interview in 2017, eLo Vegan Lifestyle operated a vendor’s kiosk inside of “Artist and Fleas Williamsburg”, a local maker’s market located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Founded by CEO Timothy George, the products on offer, some of which are CBD infused, are crafted from natural vegan ingredients by sustainable methods.
Rebel Jones of Triple R Productions Served as line director, creative director, and second camera operator. I handled the primary camera operation as well as general direction of photography and flow of capture for the day. It was a fun experience filled with levity and nostalgia as Vakrina and Timothy recounted the story of eLo Lip Care.
Now eLo Vegan Lifystyle, Timothy’s business offers lip balms, soaps, and aroma sprays, diffusers, & sanitizers for those seeking to infuse holistic and natural products into their lifestyles of the everyday.

“…Try Sitting Here”
We had already wrapped up filming with Timothy. We were looking for a place to film extended shots for the introduction sequence while capturing B-roll for the editing room. I believe it was Rebel that noticed the benches first. There was a series of benches, somewhat modern looking, amongst the recently redone urban architecture of the promenade of Williamsburg in North Brooklyn.
Seeing a portraiture opportunity, Vicrina followed Rebel’s advice and had a seat and offered the camnera an elegant yet business look. I took several frames but I believe we nailed it on the first attempt. We decided to capture some additional content for that intro sequence and below press and behind-the-scenes images that were left on the cutting room floor.
A Second Look • A Pinch of Pasteled Pink
Vicrina sought to capture additional content alongside the filmed sequences we did together for the introduction. She had an idea to meet near the grounds of the New World Trade Center in an around Chambers Street of Lower Manhattan, NY; I understand her choice. It provided the perfect neo-modern backtrap for a clean pink tinged lifestyle aesthetic. Her look that day was dashed with a hand piece covered in dozens of sowist’s clothing pins. There is an anecdote regarding this eclectic garment, I cannot deny the unique pop it offered to her look. We captured and portraiture stills in between our video work that day, examples of which are depicted below.

Caste of Gold; Fleeks of Obsidian
Some cultures believe obsidian carries grounding properties, healing characteristics, and the ability to siphon negative energy. Its sharp edges can appear not only in ashen shades but also in staunch burgundy, brazen amber, or pearlescent pink, among others. Gold, a noble metal, resists corrosion and oxidation, reflects radiation, and adapts to many shapes—yet remains sturdy when worn with care and intention. These elements intersected in celebration of Vicrina’s solar return, her birth date.
Attuned to wisdoms of astrology, she wove vision into every moment, especially those of reflection—whether through levity or creative work. Vicrina walked in her obsidian and gold, embodying an era of regality.

Eclectic Elegance Analog Esthetic
Tapping into a celluloid aesthetic was an intentional choice for Vicrina and me during the production of season two of her web series. We carried this style into the promotional content for her limited-run T-shirt line, featuring three designs and exploring three broad looks with subtle variations. Below, I’ve distilled the highlights of our work that day through select screen captures and their accompanying video presentations.
