The Back Story

Fielder and his twin brother needed headshots. The duo, known as the Diesel Funk Brothers, are on a mission to document their journey through a unique form of graphic video blogging—“glogging”—featuring interviews with fascinating people across the country. One brother draws, capturing the essence of each guest, while the other films and conducts the interviews. Their work results in a hand-drawn portrait by the artist and a video montage by the filmmaker, creating an eclectic blend of ideas and personalities.

What We Did

For their session, they chose the cobblestone streets and waterfront promenades of DUMBO, Brooklyn. Though we only shot for an hour, it was packed with energy and laughter. This session marked one of my early portraits in Brooklyn Heights, a favorite location of mine. Here, I’ve selected some standout images from that lively hour.

I filmed with my Canon SLR and a handful of off camera strobes. I experienced “glogging”as well, and footage of their interview of me indeed exists!

Jim Fielder is a filmmaker and educator based in Atlanta, GA, while Tim Fielder is an illustrator, concept designer, cartoonist, and animator based in NYC. They were born in Tupelo, MS, and raised in Clarksdale, MS.
