2017 NSDA publication
DiCo and I were already planning photography opportunities for the high school debate team. Serving the debate community through these images was purpose enough. The added honor of having one of these images published in a National Speech and Debate Association coach profile is a deeply meaningful milestone in my career as a photographer.

These captures went beyond a service. They had to. This was more than a community project; I was a debate judge and coach alongside other staff and faculty. We gathered around late one fall evening, invited by the students themselves—students about to open their college acceptance letters. A moment at once tense and tender. I captured the scene with tears in my eyes.

Opening the Letters
I do not have the adequate words to express the honor I feel even recalling being in the room when the students opened their college letters. I was happy to both bear witness to such a moment as well as capture a few instances for everyone to remember it fondly in the years to come. Here are selected images from that day.
