ZAMA Creative is all about the solo projects. represents the creative wing of my work. All of these projects whether they are personally sourced or commercially published, they are the projects that matter because they matter to me. I separate them thusly from the body of work for Upbound Media Group LLC, my media company.

How We Met

I first met Negesti as Dana during our undergraduate years at Trinity College, though we had unknowingly grown up just blocks apart in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Before college, we were ships passing in the night, navigating the dense currents of New York City without sharing a scholastic port of passage. Yet by the time we arrived in Trinity’s Class of 2014, we became fast friends.

Dana majored in Theater and Dance, and I distinctly remember her choreographing a breathtaking piece for the Trinity College Gospel Choir’s spring concert—just days before its debut during graduation season. She brought light and fire to every movement, a reflection of the humor, energy, and grace she shared with we no less across the years.

Artisan Friends

After college, Dana adopted the moniker Negesti, an evolution befitting the masterful mover she had become. Whether in her performances, community work, or collaborations, she infuses dance into many facets of her life. Negesti continues to create and inspire, and yet still knows me as her Donny. I may also be Zama the Creative, that ‘Blerd’ that ‘Speaks’ with her still, but I will always be Donny to Dana.

What We Did

Negesti Moves is a dancer, performer, educator, and business owner. Upbound Content captured her 2014 performance, while ZAMA Creative provided photography services for two portraiture sessions—one in studio and one in an urban landscape—each reflecting her artistry and vision.

Negesti is a multifaceted artist blending dance, choreography, culture, and education based in NYC. As a freelance artist, Negesti has graced illustrious stages, including Lincoln Center’s Okay Africa festival.
