Sas is the debut film & album from Shirley Annette Sparks, produced by ZAMA Creative with support from Studio Visceral LLC & TripleR Solutions. A creative endeavor capturing the soulful artistry of my mother’s musical journey, blending her lifelong passion for music and stage with a renewed focus on self-expression and legacy-building with the production of her first film and album, “She Has Sass”, and “Sas” respectively.

A Rising Star

Shirley Annette Sparks was born in Columbia, SC, in the early 1960s and moved to the New York Tri-state area by the dawn of the ’70s. She grew up singing, with The Carol Burnett Show, The Flip Wilson Show, and other broadcasts filling her home. Dance and song in front of the mirror was a common occurrence.

She seized each opportunity to engage with the craft of performance arts.

Student of the Arts

In fall 1978, she enrolled at Nassau Community College, choosing theater and performance as her major.

Anchored to the Stage

She performed, studied, and performed again. For over three semesters, she took the stage.

The Tour Deferred

By the decades end, she had even become connected with a regional band, excited to experience her first tour; Family obligations led her down another path…

The Return to Form

She is not obligated to sing. She chooses to sing. She is not obligated to act. She chooses to act.

The wait is over. Shirley is in the pre-production phase of performance career. After 40 years, she’s returning to the stage and reclaiming her space.

ZC is producing multiple productions for Shirley Sparks’ film releases, beginning with her first LP album, Sas, involving a feature-length narrative echoing Shirley’s life, “She Has Sass,” remixed as a fictional dramedy.

Social Media

ZC supports her emerging media presence with photo and video services. This will soon include a silly behind-the-scenes content space for her “Carol Burnett meets Flip Wilson” to shine through to a growing audience. We are both quite silly.
